L & S Building Contractors, Inc. was founded in 1983 by Gene Luetters and George Stein. They started working together while employed by Nelson & Company. With young families and kids in school, Gene and George decided to stay in Salina and form a partnership when Nelson & Company relocated to Denver. Over the next twenty years, L & S developed a solid reputation for providing general contracting and concrete construction services throughout central Kansas. Gene retired in 1996 and George ran the business for another six years. Joe, George’s oldest son, purchased the company in 2002.
Joe obtained a B.S. in Construction Science and Management from Kansas State University in 1997. Upon graduation, Joe and his wife, Nancy, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he took employment with the Noel Company. Joe spent five years in estimating and project management for this commercial concrete contractor on numerous projects throughout the southwest. With a desire to raise their children closer to family, Joe and Nancy moved back to Salina when the opportunity for self-employment arose.
Today L & S Building Contractors Inc., continues to offer general contracting and concrete construction services in Salina and surrounding communities. They specialize in metal building foundations, retaining walls, slabs-on-grade, and exterior paving. In addition, L & S carries a class A license and is bonded and insured.
